“Life and business are like the changing seasons. You cannot change the seasons, but you can change yourself. Therein lies the opportunity to live an extraordinary life, the opportunity to change yourself.”
What can you actually control?
The above quote is from The Seasons of Life, by the legendary Jim Rohn. I love this book for its simplicity, and the inherent optimism which makes Jim Rohn’s philosophy so compelling:
The seasons will change—that much is certain. Therefore, you must focus on what you can control: yourself.
Seasons = x, y, z
The beauty of the seasons metaphor is it can be extrapolated to so many aspects of life: love, finances, relationships, business, athletics, health, family, the economy—and leadership. For all of recorded history, there have been good times and bad times. Like the seasons of nature, life exhibits patterns that are visible to the discerning eye—the ebb and flow of the human condition.
